Quiet

The evening cove

holds quiet.

Anchored boats

roll with the tide and currents

that enter

and end here.

Fishing boats, lobster boats, sailboats,

pleasure boats.

All styles, colors, finishes and

sizes.

All snug

as a cluster

of discordant beliefs

made,

over a lifetime,

harmonious.

Then the drawbridge

descends

to embrace and

protect

this quiet, darkening

harbor.
