Pram

I saw a woman pushing an empty

pram. She was taking big steps,

the wheels moving easily

on the pavement. She looked

like she was practicing. But

nearly all girls learn that skill

early, some even before they can

properly walk. We practice pushing

a doll or a pet. I tried it with

a fish once. We push a pram

around the house first, before

wheeling it outside with help

from our mothers. My father never

wanted me to push a pram. He handed

me a fishing rod and a pellet gun.
